PRODUCTION
RAGE & Euphoria - Game engines, RAGE help clean up glitches and repair GTA, Euphoria help create artificial intelligence and help create soft realistic movements for Niko Bellic.
DLC - Downloadable content gives gamers extra hours of immersive game play. (Ballad of Gay Tony, Lost & The Damned gives 15 hours of extra game play)
Revenue Streams - Rockstar make money from other games such as Read Dead Redemption, Bully and other, such as merchandise and DLC.
Oligopoly - Small companies come together such as Sony and Microsoft and Nintendo to help with the creation and convergence.
Vertical Intergration - DMA design made original GTA but Rockstar bought GTA out into a massive corporation.
Third Person Shooter - Gamer controls the shooter yet is positioned behind the shooter.
Media Convergence - Rockstar allow GTA to do more than one media task. Gamer can play, download and listen to music at the same time.

Audience - Targeted at a specific audience, popular culture of music and film lovers. Also targeted at (18+) a mature audience.
Gatekeeping - PEGI and BBFC determine on which certificate the game has been released on. GTA IV has been released 18+
Exclusivity - Exclusive to Xbox and then later released for PS3, add ons available for certain platforms.

MARKETING
Guerilla Marketing - Low cost unconventional advertising to raise awareness of the game being released. 
Viral Marketing - Awareness raised over the internet through youtube, spoof sites, and word of mouth through facebook/twitter etc.
Merchandise - Sold also to raise awareness such as T-shirts, spoof lisence plates, posters etc.
Broadsheet Newspapers and specialist press - Interest in GTA 4 due to series' success.
Syngergistic Techniques - 2 different medias come together to promote the game. Online trailers co-ordinate with online trailers and release of magazine articles and Tv ads.
Fan Forums - Word of mouth raised again. Producers of GTA get fans involved.

CONSUMPTION
Backstory - The main story line and mission to the game, why the character is where they are etc.
Cut Scenes - The scenes cut in to the game to keep the gamer updated with the mission.  
Multiplayer Mode - More than one player can interact in the game
Modding/Modder - Creating the game to the gamers own desire by including cheats for different platforms etc.
RPG - Role Play Game
Interactivity - The gamers interaction with the control, the characters interaction with their gun/mobile etc.
Sand-box - Don't necessarily have to stick to the missions. Character and gamer can do what they want.

Technological convergence
Convergence of media occurs when multiple products come together to form one product with the advantages of all of them.

Media Convergence
When old and new media intersect in such a way that the way in media producers and media consumers interact changes.

Synergy
Definition: The interaction of two or more agents to ensure a larger effect than if they acted independently.

Viral Marketing
Definition: A marketing technique aiming at reproducing "word of mouth", usually on the internet and through existing social networks.

Guerilla Marketing
Definition: The use of unconventional and low cost marketing strategies to raise awareness of a product.

Vertical Integration
Definition: Absorption into a single firm of several firms involved in all aspects of a product's manufacture from raw materials to distribution.

Modding
Modding is a slang expression that is derived from the word "modify” and refers to the act of modifying a game to perform a function or to include content not originally conceived or intended by the designer, and then usually shared via the internet.

Sandbox Game
A game that allows the gamer to ignore the main objectives of the game (usually the Story Mission) and engage in other non-goal orientate activities.

Rockstar research

Rockstar Japan 2005-present: Japanese localization studio, in which they work in conjunction with Capcom.
Rockstar Leeds 2004–present: Previously known as Mobius Entertainment and based in Lower Wortley, Leeds. They created Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories for the PlayStation Portable, Max Payne for the Game Boy Advance and recently finished developing Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars and the music game Beaterator.
Rockstar Lincoln 1999–present: Quality assurance and localization studio based in Lincoln, England, previously known as Tarantula Studios.
Rockstar London 2005–present: Formed in November 2005. Took over development of Manhunt 2 after Rockstar Vienna had been closed and recently developed the portable adaptation of Midnight Club: Los Angeles.
Rockstar New England 2008–present: Acquired on April 4, 2008, this studio is based in Andover, Massachusetts and was previously known as Mad Doc Software. They developed the Xbox 360 and PC ports of Bully.
Rockstar North 1999–present: Founded in 1988, Rockstar North is based in Edinburgh, Scotland, and was previously known as DMA Design. They are famous for the Grand Theft Auto and Manhunt franchises, as well as the original Lemmings games.
Rockstar San Diego 2003–present: Previously known as Angel Studios, they developed the RAGE engine, Red Dead Revolver and Red Dead Redemption, the Smuggler's Run series, the first two Midtown Madness games and the Midnight Club series.
Rockstar Toronto 1999–present: Take Two's in-house development team, previously known as Rockstar Canada. Their most well-known work is their adaptation of the cult classic film The Warriors and the PC and PS3 port of GTA: Episodes from Liberty City.
Rockstar Vancouver 2002–present: Previously known as Barking Dog Studios, they created the PlayStation 2 title Bully and are currently developing the third game in the Max Payne series, Max Payne 3.
Rockstar Vienna 2003–2006: Previously known as Neo Software; closed on May 11, 2006. They ported the Max Payne series to consoles, and created most of Manhunt 2 before being closed down.
